Picture of the week: fly
Getting up close in Pickering Castle
Lunchtime on my first full day’s shift at Pickering Castle was a leisurely stroll round the grounds with a camera.
The grass on the castle’s moat and embankments is left to grow, to encourage wildlife. Grasses and wild flowers thrive there and attract insects. I had some fun trying to photograph insects, but a breeze kept blowing the grasses about, so it was difficult to focus my camera.
However, this obliging fly did hang around long enough to have its portrait taken.
